CHARITIES UPDATE

The 2025 Charities

  • All Star Children’s Foundation
  • The Food Bank of Manatee County

The Welcome Club collected small holiday presents that the children from the All Star Children's Foundation can give their siblings, parents and other relatives at the November meeting. They have a holiday boutique that the children can choose presents for their loves ones. Thank you so much for your generosity for our charities. The Foundation was thrilled with all the donations.

The Charities Committee visited two charities this past month: Donte's Den and Harbor 58. The pictures are from Donte's Den which is a non-profit sanctuary for dogs. The pool is in the shape of a dog bone.

Thank you again for your support of our charities.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear Valued Members of The Welcome Club of Sarasota and Manatee:

As Thanksgiving approaches, I find myself reflecting with deep gratitude on the extraordinary gift that is our club — and especially on each one of you.

This club we’ve built together is truly special. From the moment new or potential members walk through our doors (often nervous, sometimes far from family and familiar places), you greet them with open arms, genuine smiles, and that unmistakable warmth that says, “You belong here.” Whether it’s through chats, Special Interest Groups, luncheons, day trips, or simply a kind word at an event, you make The Welcome Club feel like home. You turn strangers into friends and friends into family.

This year, more than ever, I am thankful for:

•  Your generosity of spirit

•  Your willingness to step up and volunteer

•  The laughter that fills our gatherings

•  The caring way you check in on one another

•  The countless ways, big and small, you make this club thrive

Because of you, The Welcome Club is not just an organization — it’s a lifeline, a source of joy, and a place where lifelong friendships are born.

May your Thanksgiving be filled with good food, cherished company, and the comfort of knowing you are appreciated more than words can say. I am proud to serve as your president and profoundly grateful to be part of this remarkable club.

Wishing you and your loved ones a happy, healthy, and heartfelt Thanksgiving.

Pamela Modisett, President

Thanksgiving Poem

**Gather ‘Round the Table**

In autumn's glow, when the seasonal residents return,
We gather 'round, young and old.
With grateful hearts, we pause to say,
For all our blessings, on this day.

The turkey roasts, the pies are sweet,
Family and friends, a joyous treat.
Laughter dances in the air,
In every smile, love is shared.

The table's set, with care and grace,
Each dish a story, a warm embrace.
From mashed potatoes to cranberry sauce,
Each bite reminds us of love's true source.

We share our dreams, our hopes, our fears,
We wipe away laughter, and sometimes tears.
In moments of silence, we remember the past,
The ones we hold dear, their love unsurpassed.

So let us celebrate today,
To cherished moments, come what may.
For in this season of love and cheer,
Thanksgiving's spirit is always near.

As we give thanks for what we’ve gained,
Let’s spread that joy, let love be unchained.
For in giving and sharing, our hearts grow wide,
Together we flourish, with love as our guide.
